Simhuis BV/ Topcom Telecom is committed to making a positive impact worldwide. We are fully committed to this, from our employees to our products and supply chain. We foster and support the spirit of volunteerism in our local communities. We encourage our employees to participate in community development, with an emphasis on ecology, education, sports and health. In the development of our products, we invest in public awareness programs and follow green supply chain management to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality, ethics and sustainability.
Building a fair and sustainable world
Supporting human rights and promoting global health are values we hold dear at Simhuis, and we take every possible step to ensure this is respected throughout our global supply chain.
Green product policy
Protecting human health is of utmost importance to Simhuis. In order to reduce the impact of hazardous substances on humanity, Simhuis uses the Green Product Management System (GPMS) to control hazardous substances in our supply chain. We always follow local and international regulations on organic products.
EU Battery Regulation
EU Directive 2006/66/EC on waste batteries and accumulators (the "Battery Directive"), applicable since 26 September 2008, aims to minimise the impact of waste batteries and accumulators on the environment and human health.
EU Packaging Regulation
Since 20 December 1994, EU Directive 94/62/EC provides for measures to reduce the generation of packaging waste and to promote recycling, reuse and other forms of waste recovery. The directive restricts the use of certain heavy metals in packaging (Hg, Pb, Cr6 , Cd) in order to protect the environment from hazardous substances and materials.
EU Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)
Simhuis products comply with the POP Regulation and do not contain any prohibited substances listed in Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1021.
PFOS-free
Simhuis believes it is important that all products are designed and manufactured in accordance with EU Directive 757/2010/EC on the restriction of the use of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in electronic components.
Montreal Protocol
The Montreal Protocol is an international treaty designed to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production of many ozone-depleting substances. It was agreed on September 16, 1987, and entered into force on January 1, 1989.
Treaty of Rotterdam
The Rotterdam Convention is a multilateral treaty that promotes shared responsibility for the import of hazardous chemicals. The Convention was adopted on 10 September 1998 and entered into force on 24 February 2004.
Responsible purchasing
We are committed to making a difference through responsible sourcing and sustainable management of our supplies. The difference is not only in regulatory compliance, but also in working with our suppliers to achieve a positive and lasting impact.
Responsible purchasing and supplier responsibility
Simhuis has a proactive policy to ensure that the activities we undertake to manufacture and distribute products do not conflict with the laws or customs of the regions in which we operate, or adversely affect the rights of others. We strive to avoid the use of conflict minerals in our supply chain by following the Securities and Exchange Commission's "Conflict Minerals Policy".
Supply chain management
We believe that to have a positive impact, it is necessary to build long-term partnerships with strategic suppliers who share the same standards of quality, ethics and sustainability. We want to drive change through sustainable supply management and responsible sourcing, in close collaboration with our suppliers. We expect our suppliers to:
- Sourcing materials from conflict-free minerals from the DRC
- Ensure that all components used in the manufacture of Simhuis products are sourced from certified conflict-free smelters that comply with the EICC CFS protocol, based on the CFS Compliant Smelter List.
Conflict-free supply chain
We are taking steps to ensure that our use of cassiterite (tin ore), tungsten (tungsten ore), coltan (tantalum ore), gold and their derivatives complies with Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which was passed in 2010 by the U.S. Congress. Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act, enacted by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), requires companies to disclose whether their products contain conflict minerals that are necessary for the functioning or production of those products. We recognize that the final SEC rule for Section 1502 requires our direct and indirect suppliers to conduct due diligence in their global supply chains. The extraction of certain minerals in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and neighboring countries partly contributes to human rights violations and the financing of armed conflict in the region. Simhuis is committed to avoiding the use of conflict minerals in our supply chain by adhering to the SEC's Conflict Minerals Principle.
